WHAT NO CELL PHONE CAN DO…

WHAT NO CELL PHONE CAN DO…

The following are the pictures taken with our new Canon EOS 70D.

Some we took, some the professional photographer took,

but it’s meant to show just what can be produced

with this wonderful piece of equipment.

…this couldn’t have been a better publicity shot for Canon…
…a totally spontaneous moment.

…proof that I did it and really enjoyed the ride!

…the ‘Hero Shot’…

…my one kilometre run…

This is our ziplining Selfie.
…our favourite shot.
We were given permission by the guide to zip tandem,
something they don’t usually allow.
The guides will run tandem if necessary,
with someone a bit afraid or
as they did with the camera guy
but for this run only they let us hook up together.

We are a team on land,
on sea
and now over the rainforest.

LA PURA VIDA – Extreme

LA PURA VIDA – Extreme

On the bucket list of the Acrophobic Kat?

…to zipline over the rain forest canopy in Costa Rica!

And today was the day to prove to myself, François and all the crew

that I could do it.

…rigging up with the harness before we climbed to the first platform.

…would they hate me if I backed out now?

…so not sure that I can do it!

…I jumped and screamed until my throat was sore…

…but I DID IT!!!!!!!!!
…and lived to tell the tale!

…followed by our ever-present camera guy.

…and I did it again and again and again and again.
So very proud of me!

…sound guy preparing for François’ arrival.

…effortless!

…exhilarated…

…he makes it look SO easy!

…just when I thought my fear of heights was behind me,

they put me on a metal grid platform above the canopy.

…#6 with all the crew and the phenomenal view.

…this is what they called the ‘hero shot’…
Francois’ smooth run with the 75 metre Arenal Falls in the background.

…after six zips this suspension bridge was a piece of cake.

…check out the stats on this one!

…almost one kilometre long and you can’t apply any break
or you don’t make it to the end.
Imagine getting stuck out in the middle of that?

…the longest run.

…my very supportive sound guy bud.

…the A Team.

…photographer photographing the photographer.

…our awesome zip guides – Ulise and Luis.

…can’t figure out how Francois ended with so little mud.

while I’m one tough-looking mudder!!!
Definitely not my prettiest moment
but for sure my proudest.

(I told you I would do it dear daughter,

I’m one tough mother!)

Post Script

There are other pictures I will share in my next post.

Because of our agreement with the production team

that we could take pictures with our beautiful new camera

but we were not allowed to see them until filming was complete

in order to maximize the surprise effect.

LA PURA VIDA – part two

LA PURA VIDA – part two

Because the weather wasn’t exactly cooperating,

the next part of our adventure

was postponed until tomorrow…

(oh what will it be??)

Instead our guide, Susan headed to another location…

This lady, who we now call Xena the Warrior Princess,

was in posession of, not one, but several machetes…

…this beauty she kept under the seat of her vehicle.

Destination…

La Fortuna waterfall

which drops 75 metres at the base of the dormant Chato Volcano.

Fed by the Tenorio River,

which travels through the rain forest in the Arenal Mountain Range,

until it plunges over the cliff to form this falls…

…we climbed the 400+ steps to the top…

…then the crew sent me down…down…

…for a great photo op…

…The best part of the climb was this little day-end treat…
…a soak in the Eco Thermales Hot Springs,
the natural volcanic springs of thermal water
with six pools of temperatures ranging from 37° to 41° C, and one fresh water waterfall,
all forming an exotic natural spa.

…our poor aching muscles were very thankful…

…and that refreshing pina colada was much appreciated…

…tomorrow will be

THE BIG EVENT!!!
