Our intention was to visit the nearest MacGregor dealer – Dowsar Marine (www.dowsar.com) in Hamilton – at the end of the summer (August 2012). Long long drive. We intended that we would spend the summer fitting in some sailing, relaxing after a fairly busy winter & spring. Didn’t make it past early July….what were we waiting for?

We called the dealer and told him we were heading out the next day. He advised taking highway 407 which bypasses much of the busy highway 401 which passes through the Ontario megalopolis. He said we would pay (meaning it is a toll highway) but if we didn’t exercise that option we would really ‘pay’ (meaning we may still be on the road next year).
….such good advice…
We got up just after midnight, grabbed a couple of coffees and with so much excitement started on our journey of no return.
We arrived in Hamilton just before 09:00, before Dowsar even opened, grabbed another coffee and muffins at a great little café next door. So eager! When it did open, François wasted no time checking out the model MacGregor in the showroom.

After several hours of discussions, questions, explanations, we had our list – surprisingly within just a few dollars of our proposed budget (whew!). Contract signed. Commitment made. With a final hand shake (and hands still shaking) we departed.

Our ‘lady’ – a 2013 MacGregor 26M – will be delivered February 2013 to the dealership in Hamilton where requested modifications will be made. We will return in April 2013 to bring her home to Montréal.

…by the way hull colour will be white…

….coming next…

how to bring her home…
