Now that we found the boat we needed to figure out how to equip her while remaining fiscally responsible. We also had to locate a Canadian dealer (MacGregors are produced in California)

We found five authorized MacGregor dealers in Canada but only one within easy traveling distance.

So dealer found – check! From their website (http://www.dowsar.com/) we were able to acquire a base Canadian cost and could download extras and base modifications with costs.

Over several evenings we discussed how we saw our life with a sail boat. This made compiling the list a lot easier. Did we want to go basic and add as we went along. Were there things we weren’t willing to do ourselves. Were we planning on day sailing or were we more interested in short trips.

We each had equipping preferences and priorities -top of my wish list was a head Jabsco Head(the toilet), a basic galley (the kitchen) and some sort of cooler or refrigerator Waeco Cooler and a small BBQ would be useful Stow 'N Go BBQ.

Francois was more interested in the more technical aspects – electrical and mechanical stuff. The one part of the tech stuff that did interest me was a good GPS system – large touch screen would be nice.

We set our budget limit, made a rough calculation of needs & wants and hoped for the best.

…..next step…..road trip….

….but one very important decision will have to be made before signing any contract….
