All day rain…
and our on our boat when it rains,
water can enter the companionway inspite of the canvas cockpit canopy.
We could install the full cockpit enclosure
but for just one day we felt it wasn’t worth the effort,
so we usually have to install the cabin door.
Now this isn’t a big deal but we have become accustomed to fresh air…
Interim solution found….
…an inexpensive over-sized umbrella…
We are still working on a similar solution for the forward hatch
but will have to wait until inspiration (or lightning) strikes again…
We do the same thing! My wife's small beach umbrella doubles as our companionway protection in rain. We do not have a dodger.
Even with the dodger rain gets in depending on wind direction. A boom tent would look more 'nautical' but for the number of times we would need it a $15 golf umbrella works just fine 🙂
