Our second-last sailing day of the season…
…spectacular warm cloudless sunny day…
While others at the club were removing boat gear, demasting and hauling out,
we were bringing more provisions onboard and heading out for another sail…
…wind advisery gusts to 25-30 knot west winds…
…looked pretty calm from our dock…
…Captain was confident…
…but it was quite a frisky ‘mon dieu, holy crap’ ride…
…one by one the few boats that were on the lake
furled or lowered their sails and returned home…
…we decided to err on the side of caution and do the same…
…there’s always tomorrow for one last ride…
…wind strength and direction made it impossible to reach our slip safely,
so we pulled up alongside and waited for the wind to subside…
Captain was not at all happy that his R.E.D. was not in her proper place…
