Our first of the Thousand Islands…

My first full day at the helm and it was AWESOME!!!…
Beam reach the whole way – light 10 knot winds…
The only time we had to change coarse was when we headed in for the day…
Our stop….

We hiked around the island while the mosquitos were still sleeping…

So this is the day we cut the lines
and leave our secure (and very inexpensive) docking at
Canadian Forces Base Kingston Yacht Club…
First we made one more stop at the Kingston public docks
to find those last few provisions
that will take us past the National holiday on Tuesday.
The docks by the way are a great way to stop at downtown Kingston and visit its many
charming shops and restaurants…
The $1 per hour made it less expensive than most city car parking.
But the day docks are no more than 15′ long…
a small challenge for a 26′ sailboat…
Much better wind than yesterday…
a breezy and very easy 8 knot wind from the SW…
Broad reach and beam reach all the way.
Our first ‘planned’ stop was at Milton Island,
not too far from Kingston,
but it seemed a bit too popular
so we headed on….
Risk of thunderstorm forecast meant we needed a fairly secure achorage…
Holiday Bay on the south-east side of Wolfe Island seemed like a good choice…
Most of the bays in the area are very shallow,
some with rock,
some with weeds,
but this one gave us the perfect ratio of water depth and a mud bottom
with a good 5 feet below R.E.D.’s belly.

we enjoyed a special gift from a very special friend.
…bathed in the clear water…
…this could be the weather that was forecast…
…but for now all is quiet…
…just the loons and bull frogs singing…

Two weeks already?
…The w
ind farm on Wolfe Island indicated some wind…
but very little….
…the maximum we made was 3.5 knots, full sails…
…surprisingly few boats on the lake…
…the two buds seemed to enjoy the two-hour sail though…
(thanks so much Carl for making the trip on your beautiful
not-an-800-lb-scooter. We both really enjoyed your visit)
…we spent our evening doing our weekly laundry
while we planned our next day…
…lovin’ our little Scrubba Bag.
…after, we sipped our dinner wine watching
one of the many Thousand Island cruise boats glide between
Presqu’ile and Cedar Island.
…and the most entertaining was the dog fight between the infamous
Red Baron’s tri-plane and the Sopwith Camel bi-plane…
….we may never know who really shot down the
R.E.D. Baron…
