CLEAN & POLISH

CLEAN & POLISH

Now that we have consistently mild weather,

and since it will be a few days before we can ‘splash’ our lady

we are using the time to clean and polish.

…scrubbing the deck and hull…

…polishing the chrome…

…the wooden crutch in the cockpit I will be explaining in a later post.

…it involves a plan to make travelling with mast down a little easier

for the first protion of our summer Rideau loop trip.

…she looks really shiny and we haven’t even applied the wax yet.

…the club was a bustling hive of activity with others preparing their boats for launch

and these lucky folks already having enjoyed a brisk sail.

R.E.D. GOES TOPLESS

R.E.D. GOES TOPLESS

Today was a beautiful warm cloudless day….
Time to do some serious boat work…
…main tarp is now removed and ready to store for the season…
…next, to remove the skeleton…

…she still looks shiny…

…so small compared to her neighbours…

…the water level on the lake is still very high…
…but the process of anchoring the docks has begun…
…Francois found our dock finger from last year…

…easy to identify as we forgot to remove the shackles & bumpers…

…things are starting to take shape at the club…

…all the little dinghies for the sailing school are ready for the bébés marins…
Next step for R.E.D. – washing and polishing…
CIVILIAN PIG RETURNS

CIVILIAN PIG RETURNS

After several days of real spring weather we are encouraged…
Our club is now officially open…
We have electricity…
We have water…
We have showers…
…Major Pig is out of uniform…

… for a visit to Shawshank to break out our gear…
…and to sort out what to bring back to R.E.D. …
…water on the lake is receding…

…time to remove the stern tarp so R.E.D. can breathe…

…everything seems right again in paradise…

…the essentials…
V-berth cushions in place because you KNOW that Captain and the Galley Kat
(and the Pig)
will be sleeping onboard at the earliest possible moment.
