RETIRED EVENTUALLY aDRIFT

Retired Eventually aDrift…….
onward toward another adventure.
No this was not the original meaning of our little sailboat’s name R.E.D.
but it fits our current situation.
On this day, October 4th, 2014
Lieutenant-Colonel François Segard
(aka Captain of R.E.D.)
is officially retired
after 35 years with the Canadian Army Regular Force,
3 years in the Canadian Primary Reserve,
and 7 overseas missions.
At 1400 today he relinquished his command
…but my Captain had great foresight…
…so we took on-the-water courses…
…and practiced our skills on club boats…
…sailed with family and friends…
joined the Montreal Squadron as Training Officers
and amassed a sizeable sailing library
…we researched and found the perfect boat for us…
…it was love at first sight…
…we brought her home…
…we named her…
…we launched her…

…we found her a home…

…we christened her…
…we have played pirate aboard R.E.D.
…celebrated Christmas aboard R.E.D….

…now Captain Francois has traded this uniform…
…and this…
…and this…

…for this…

…and this…
…and this….

…here’s to retirement my Captain
and all the adventures ahead of us.
