…and leaving our comfort zone…

We did our reconnaissance last week

and thought it best to install the mast system just in case…

…left our home base under motor on a beautiful day,

…not another boat on the lake…

…our first obstacle…

(reference to our first attempt)

… looks like at least 2′ clearance….

I think…

…our first time on the ‘far side’…

…traversed the beautiful Baie-de-Vaudreuil

…our resting place while waiting for the lock at Sainte-Anne-de Bellevue to open…

as the gates of the lock opened, this is what appeared…

…boat with a boat garage….

Really?…

…harbour master at the lock was great…

gave us his full attention as we were the only boat in the lock…

…gate closed behind us…

30 minutes later gates opened at the other end…

…next obstacle…
3 bridges….
height 38.5’…
…our maximum height 37’…
….turned off the VHF radio just in case the antenna touched the electrical wires on the railway bridge…
…harbour master yelled to us: ‘you have a good foot and a half”….

…happily docked on the ‘far side’
the captain removed the mast system…

4 bridges +
1 lock +
no incidents =
1 happy captain…

…while the Admiral took refuge in the shade…

…once we secured a dock at the local reciprocol club

we enjoyed a great evening in Pointe-Claire Village with my daughter, her fiancĂ© and future inlaws….

….this was her ‘impromtu’ dinner…

BBQ’d planked salmon,

grilled corn-on-the-cob,

amazing kale, arugula, spinach salad

&

roast potatoes…

….did I mention impromptu?
