LITTLE LOOP – DAY 21

LITTLE LOOP – DAY 21

We glided out of our anchorage near Heart Island this morning…
barely a puff of wind…
past some amazing properites…
…and this was my ‘just because I thought it was pretty’…
and so remote…
Then the wind picked up enough to launch the genoa…
and THEN….
probably the best wind we have had yet…
beam and broad reach for four solid hours…
we hit
6.6 knots!!!

…Francois was wondering if we would get a speeding ticket…

…now back in Canadian waters anchored for the night,
all played out…
our lady dancing around the anchor chain like a Merry-go-round.
LITTLE LOOP – DAY 20

LITTLE LOOP – DAY 20

Our day at Boldt Castle
(it’s worth reading about the Boldt story by following the above link…
a real love story…
an island bought for $20,000…
a castle built for $2.5 million…
The folllowing pictures capture our day on Heart Island,
followed by an impressive Independence Day fire works display on the castle grounds…
…the main building…

…the power house…

…the play house, complete with bowling alley…

…hearts everywhere…

…the underground passage…

…a re-visit for Francois who came here with his family in the late ’60’s…

…R.E.D. waited patiently for us at the dock…

…while we took the shuttle to the ‘little’ yacht house…

…the four doors open to accommodate a 60′ boat and sailboats alike…

…57′ luxury wooden boat from days gone by…

Evinrude’s modest beginnings…

…After our tour we anchored near Heart Island…
…took care of some basic shores…

…and another laundry day…

…for a while the weather took on the look of the film
‘Independence Day’…

…as night fell the boats gathered…

…Francois got his ‘groove’ on…

Cheering and boat horns honking…
and then just as quickly as they arrived,
the other boats were gone,
leaving us alone at anchor.
LITTLE LOOP – Day 19

LITTLE LOOP – Day 19

Today was a quick motor to the river-side village of Alexandria Bay…
We provisioned the ‘important’ stuff…
a fitting scotch of our fine lady…

…this is my ‘just because’ photo of the day…

…by mid-day the village was hopping with activity…

…R.E.D. has her place for the night…

Tomorrow’s destination…

…with it’s ‘little’ boat garage…
