Buying Guide For Wakeboard Towers
Choosing the best wakeboard tower for your boat involves considering several key factors to ensure safety, compatibility, and functionality.
Boat Size and Mounting Width
- Measure your boat’s tower mounting width accurately. Most universal towers accommodate a range of 62″ to 108″. Matching this with your boat’s specifications ensures a secure fit.
- Boat length: Most towers are designed for boats 16 feet or longer. Confirm your boat length falls within recommended guidelines.
Material and Finish
- Powder-coated vs Polished: Powder-coated finishes offer superior corrosion resistance and matte or gloss black aesthetics. Polished aluminum or chrome-like finishes provide a shiny, reflective look but may require more maintenance.
- Durability: Aluminum towers are lightweight and corrosion-resistant, ideal for freshwater and saltwater use.
Accessory Compatibility
- Bimini tops: If sun protection is desired, consider towers compatible with bimini tops. Check tubular diameters and mounting width for fit.
- Racks: Built-in or add-on wakeboard racks help keep boards organized and secure during transit.
Collapsibility and Storage
- A collapsible tower allows for compact storage and easier transportation, especially useful for boat trailers and tight docking spaces.
Installation and Load Capacity
- Look for towers that come with detailed installation instructions and hardware for secure mounting.
- Check manufacturer guidelines for maximum weight capacity to ensure safety when towing riders or holding equipment.
Design and Aesthetics
- Choose a tower style that complements your boat’s overall look—whether sleek and modern with a powder coat or classic with polished finishes.
- Adjustable mounts offer flexibility in tower positioning to suit boating preferences.
